Okay, there is no place you can go that you’ll think is good.
Of course some are better than others but you’ll think anyone you get into is terrible.
That’s because you will be in a hospital, you’ll have to follow their rules, eat the food they give you. Anywhere you go some of the staff will be nice and some will be miserable you-know whats. They will make you do things you don’t want to do, talk about things you don’t want to know you know, never mind anybody else hearing them…
BUT YOU MUST GO- THE LIFE YOU SAVE WILL BE YOUR OWN.
So the thing to do is this.
Call your library. Ask where you can get a directory of residential mental health facilities for your state. Get it, it’ll list all of them, and usually give a description, If not, go on line and look them up- never mind, go on the web and google:
residential mental health facilities in ga.
Read about them, eliminate those you don’t like, select two or three, make an appt to visit and do so. If at all possible do it with someone you’re comfortable with, someone who’s on your side. Money may be a problem. as well as waiting lists, because you’re far from alone with this.
Allow enough time to know what the place is like. ask to see your room, how you can change roomates, have them tell you what they offer for your free time, what you can bring from home, etc.
Before you go, google: how to select a residential mental health facility. I’m sure you’ll get the info you need.
Be prepared to hate it and stick it out. After a while you’ll find it isn’t so bad after all.
See the film “Girl Interrupted.” If you already did see it again and imagine yourself there. That should be good preparation.
l wish you the best of luck. l know you’ll be fine.
