A horrible mental illness. I knew a couple girls who were bulimic and their entire situations were just incredibly sad.
But the stigma of bulimia and eating disorders in general from what I’ve seen are painting them as trivial “girl problems” (despite the fact that the percentage of males being diagnosed with eating disorders are on the rise), diets gone “awry”, adolescent “rites of passage”, or acting of “juvenile rebels” or just control freaks. And what’s even more disgusting is eating disorders are sensationalized by the media as actresses/actors, models, musicians, etc; it seems as though to them, the skinnier you are, the more attractive you are, even if the means one takes to get to a certain level of thinness does horrible things to their bodies.
