Would You Take a Position at an Evangelical School…?

Question by jenn_smithson: Would you take a position at an evangelical school…?
I am newly certified to teach and have been offered a position at a deeply evangelical christian academy but I am not really religious.

I was wondering if you, in my shoes, would accept the position or politely decline and continue looking at the public schools?

The school does have a great academic program (outside of the religious angle) but as a teacher there, I would have to lead a bible study class on top of my content area classes plus serve as a “spiritual counselor” for the children in my care. I don’t want to lie to people but I also don’t want to continue worrying about whether I will secure a position before school begins again in August. Plus, I have to confess that I am very curious about what I would experience in the school over the year (I’m also a writer and the temptation of gaining a great story is almost pressing me into accepting the position).
