Tom’s Testimonial “Hi, I’m Tom. I’m from New York. I’m 36. I drank and drugged my whole adult life. More or less everyday from 21 on. I’m 36 now. I was always in trouble. I was always the kid that got in trouble at the end of the party. Looking back I don’t remember having really having a lot of fun. I was always drinking by myself. Using to make myself feel better. Trying to forget about everything that was going on in my life. My first DWI was 21. It was on New Year’s Day. I didn’t think it was any problem. I thought I was just being a kid. I didn’t take it seriously at all. I finished all my treatments. My second DWI was then 24 years old, right after probation. Still didn’t take it seriously. I lied to everyone. I never looked at the reason behind why I drank– just not liking myself, thinking I was never good enough. My third DWI was when I was 29 and that’s more or less when treatment started because I knew I was going to get in a lot of trouble and I wanted to beat it, so I went to my first treatment that my work sent me to. I’m a construction worker in Manhattan, and they sent me upstate New York. Once again, second day, I climbed out the window and I didn’t think I had a problem and I drank.
