Should I Send an Email to My New Psychotherapist to Get Background on Each Other?
Question by Ryan: Should I send an email to my new psychotherapist to get background on each other?
Hi, I’m 20 years old, and in another week, I’m seeing a new therapist who deals with ASDs. I have very mild Asperger’s syndrome, most people probably wouldn’t notice, but I think I’d have trouble opening up to her, even though she’s really hot and has a lot of experience with working with both children, adolescents and adults with ASDs. I’m wondering if it would be appropriate to send her an email to set up a background for our next session?

That depends. Some therapist are ok with clients emailing and some are not. Maybe wait until te next session to ask about it.

If you mean giving the ex doctor permission to talk to the new one , they will have you sign permission so they can get your records. Then it is usually faxed back to the new doctor.
