What Positions Should I Sit in for Scoliosis?
Question by Chrystina: What positions should I sit in for scoliosis?
I’m a student so sitting for hours on end with a crooked spine is not comfortable. One of my teachers assigned us a new seating chart and refuses to change seats for the rest of the semester. She is extremely lazy and looks like she hates her job (why did she even choose it?!), and when I asked her to change my seat from the back to the front, she said I’d have to find someone to switch with me because she doesn’t want to do it herself. Really?
So today we got to sit wherever we wanted and I chose the front. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that I had to twist my neck and entire back the entire period unless I wanted a neck cramp trying to see the board. So I sit sideways on my desk (it’s those kinds with chairs glued to the desks), and it’s extremely uncomfortable and I’m really frustrated I made a wrong decision.
But will this make my spine worse? I have a 40 degree curvature and I don’t wear a brace since I stopped growing. I do rehab exercises every day even though it’s super annoying. So will my curvature get worse sitting this way?
And wat positions should I sleep in at night? My back always feels strained and doesn’t feel like it’s even touching the bed, and it’s disgusting how I can feel my spine when I sit in a chair.
Oops, I put it in the wrong section… oh and the new seats are permanent.

Oh, 40 degree, you have best to treat it immediately. Get prompt treatment to prevent its further progression when first diagnosed. Do you have other symptoms (Like back pain)? Pain caused by scoliosis can indicate the curve is more progressive. You can try the Zhang’s Combination Therapy.
