Why Did the Judge Go Easy on Me?

Question by Advocate: Why did the judge go easy on me?
A few months ago, I was arrested on charges of vandalizing school property. This was my first offense, however I have documented anger issues and am in a special ed school. The hearing lasted around five minutes, after which the judge ordered me to attend a “diversion program” where basically you just apologize and say you wont do it again and thats it. Also, it does not count as a conviction. Why did the judge let me slide?
Dont get me wrong, Im happy about it, Im just wondering why.

Write the Clerks office and ask them. They always like to here from those who beat the system.
