Are There Conservative Schools of Social Work? at SIU You Cannot Even Think Conservative Let Alone Speak?

Question by : Are there conservative schools of social work? At SIU you cannot even think conservative let alone speak?
I recently graduated from Southern Illinois University with an MSW. They are VERY liberal. Through their “gatekeeping” policy which allows them to give you the boot for any reason I was forced to be silent and keep my views to myself. I didn’t think political affiliation should matter too much because we are all there to help people but obviously not at SIU. I was wondering if there were accredited schools out there that welcome various views and beliefs.

If its a state university they can’t really kick you out for your views, and if they did, you could easily sue.

They might disagree with you or dislike you but, as I said, unless its a private school they can’t do anything.

As a social worker, you will come across gay people, homeless people, troubled youths, etc.
And frankly, traditional conservatism treats these types of people very badly. You’re going to be a very bad social worker if you just tell the homeless people “Get a job!”, tell the troubled youths “Straighten up and quick slacking!”, and tell the gay people “Stop it! You can and should choose to be straight!”

Social work is in itself a more liberal kind of employment. Are you really sure you’re in the right field?
