How Do You Feel About Abortion?

Question by Tiana Jade: How do you feel about abortion?
To start, I am neither truly “pro-life” or “pro-choice.” You could describe me as being more like…. pro-REGULATIONS. I believe that in certain cases, abortion could be argued for… However I believe abortion should have VERY strict regulations, more than it currently does. I think 12 weeks is my stopping point, and abortions after that should only happen if your doctor thinks you are in danger. I don’t really want to hear any of the “20 week” arguments, because personally I think most women could decide if they want to kill the baby in around 3 months.
I find late-term abortions absolutely disgusting unless the mother is at quite a bit of risk.
12 weeks is really as far as I will go. Clearly I am against abortion if the mother had CONSENTING sexual activity and just “didn’t want” the baby. However I do not like to identify as “pro-life” because I don’t agree with certain “pro-life” arguments.. and I DO make exceptions if the mother would suffer psychological/physical detrimental effects. I call myself “pro-regulations” as I stated above.
Though I lean towards the argument that the baby is a life, and not just “part of the mother’s body.” Every child, every baby, is a precious, precious thing. I will not stand for the babies getting killed late in pregnancies. Have you ever seen the horrifying video “The Silent Scream”? If not, it isn’t for the faint of heart. But it proves that babies in the womb feel pain, distress, etc. just like a newborn. Even 12 weeks is slightly “iffy” for me, but I think it IS fair to allow women who were victims of sexual abuse at least a few months to get themselves over to a clinic, if that is their decision. I wouldn’t “force” them to deliver a baby in those situations where it could cause the mother a lot of psychological distress. I also believe that in certain cases where the baby would’ve had a very severe health condition where they would’ve died almost for sure, that could be acceptable. However, I have heard of cases of twins where the wrong baby was killed and they BOTH ended up dead. Horrible, right? Doctors better be careful. I also really disagree with the unnecessary cruelty of the “salt injection” abortion method.
What do you think? When do you think abortions are “acceptable” or not? When do you think the “stopping point” is? Please no severe pro-lifers or pro-choicers if you are going to rant, thanks.

We should use both the live and the dead fetuses for use in labs to save lives one day.

honestly i believe that if you made the decision to have sex then you need to be responsible enough to take of what could come with that, so i think that having an abortion is a irresponsible choice, however i agree with you, that in some cases it can be argued for also i think if the baby is in your stomach for more than 2 months then it is wrong to get an abortion.
