Alcoholic Behavior??

Question by tracy: Alcoholic behavior??
I am reading a lot of posts about alcoholism and I am just wondering…I don’t need to drink but I just do when I want to. Like I can go days w/o drinking but I will drink more heavily every weekend. For example I drank the past three nights (including tonight) just because that’s what was going on and I didn’t really over think what I was doing. I can not drink fine, but I will still drink when it’s around and causal. So what constitutes as an alcoholic? i always thought it was when you can’t go to work sober, or you need to drink right in the morning, or when you are drunk pretty much all the time

The last examples you gave are common myths about alcoholism. Most people who are not alcoholic do not usually question or wonder if they might be. It sounds like somewhere inside you have reasons to wonder if you might be and may be something to listen to… maybe not.
You can always try an AA meeting. They are open to the general public. You do not have to be an alcoholic or admit you are to attend. See if you can identify with the experiences people share… if not, then you have your answer.
If so, you made a wise and responsible choice to get help before it had devistating consequences.
Good luck on your journey and best wishes to you.

They have the 12 steps programs and AA if you need help. Good luck. I wish you the very best.
