Why can’t they just quit on their own? Isn’t it just a matter of willpower?

Most of drug addicts think that they can quit when they want to. The thing that they don’t realize is that the drug alters their brain function, which makes it harder for them to stop on their own and brings them back to relapsing. This is why they need addiction treatment. Studies have shown that even the most severely addicted individuals can recover because of treatment.
