Question by Estella LA Gal: what is involved in the different types of psychiatry?
i know there is many different types of psychiatry eg. adolescent and clinical and so on….

but what is involved in each type of psychiatry and which on would you personally say is most interesting?

I like to deal with troubled people because i find this most rewarding and i like to know why people do what they do ( like what motivates peoples actions ) what kind of psychiatry do you think i would be best at?

here is how that goes, you get into uni, do four years of premed undergraduate work , then apply to med school…………in the time you take all those classes , then after you finish med school you have to go on to study psychiatry…….most of what is taught are diagnositic categories and the use medications
by that time you will know what you want to do for sure, and probably in undergraduate school

if you just want to focus on therapy skills, you may wish to study psychology instead and become a psychologist or social worker instead

no one can tell you what you are goilng to like better, only you

If you want to work with people’s problems then you would be better off being a psychologist instead of a psychiatrist……. to be a psychiatrist you have to go to medical school….. All psychiatrists do anymore is prescribe meds…. psychologists do all the therapy.
