I am so worried about my daughter. She’s about to leave us soon to go to college. I fear that she might be influenced by friends to experiment on drugs or alcohol. Are there support groups that I can join?

TAKE HER TO VOLUNTEER AT A HOMELESS SHELTER OR SOMEWHERE WHERE THERE WILL BE A LOT OF SUBSTANCE ABUSERS!!! Let her see where it can take her. You will find most people in a bad situation will LOVE to tell their story.

I know there are support groups for spouses or loved ones through NA (narcotics anonymous) I believe is called Nar-Anon http://alcoholism.about.com/od/naranonresources/NarAnon_Resources.htm But I’m not sure if that would really be effective in your case, considering she isn’t a user, and may never be one.

Google “Nar-anon” I know that there are forums too.
