Are they beneficial to the client populations they serve? Do clients tend to get “stuck” in the system? What are the upsides and downsides?

From what I have observed with my friend who goes to county, they make a best-effort approach to mental care. He has been on several different medications over the years with little help to fix his situation (he has schizophrenia). Knowing that he is in some fairly severe stage of this condition I don’t feel anywhere could do much, especially for conditions like that, so I think it really depends on how bad the condition is. Depression is fairly treatable, but that also depends on how severe. I firmly believe county is best served for the under-priviledged who need immediate care but do not have severe conditions. Even with full benefits, the most severe mental conditions are typically not the best in terms of results.

I’m having my assessment this thursday so that i can start going. Sounds like they have a load of activities on offer, and staff from my team working there. I’m looking forward to it. I’ll start in a couple of weeks.
