My Whole Family Is Depressed and Suicidal? (Please Read the Whole Thing)?
Question by Strawberry Pocky: My whole family is depressed and suicidal? (please read the whole thing)?
Please help me. I don’t want to live with my family anymore. I don’t want to make this too long, but I’ll briefly describe what my family is like. But please read this!
My dad is very depressed. He sleeps most of the day except when he works. When I ride in the car with him, he drives like a maniac and says he does it to relieve his stress. He takes anti-anxiety medicine. But most of all, he is always in a terrible mood. It’s not just like that, but he literally never smiles and is always frowning and cursing and yelling. Right now I live alone with him just for the summer. My parents are getting divorced. He is just always unhappy, a perfectionist, and also has ideas on killing himself.
My mom is ill. She can’t sleep and has very bad insomnia. She just can’t tolerate things anymore. If disturbed even slightly, she will have a nervous breakdown. She will sit on the floor crying and sobbing and say she wants to end her life. She forgets things, almost everything. She tells me every day that she prays to God that she hopes to get cancer and die. She also can’t stand up for herself, especially around my brother, which I’ll describe later. But mainly, my mom is so stressed from my dad not paying child support and not supporting her because she has financial problems. And she is stressed from both me and my brother’s problems.
And my brother has a lot of behavioral problems. He is violent and threatens to hurt other people, especially me. He has already hurt me before. He has not respect for his parents, talks back, and is the boss of my mom. He controls my mom and makes her afraid of him.
And me, well I have a lot of problems too. I’ve been in therapy since I was 11 and now I’m 16. I have been hospitalized 5 times for various reasons.
What should I do? I don’t want to live with my family anymore but have no where to go..

(Why doesn’t your dad get help for the depression? The anti-anxiety meds won’t help that.)
Whe you go back to school, talk to the counselor. He/she may have some ideas. Sometimes foster parents can step in for older children…
