Question by teapot.?: URGENT! what’s it like on an adolescent psychiatric unit?
I’m being referred to an adolescent psychiatric unit next week – I’m really nervous and upset, I am not being sectioned so I don’t know if that makes any difference?! Please any advice, experience or anything would be greatly aprreciated.

It’s just like any other ward, except
sometimes the staff have plastic
perspex between clients and staff.
Because some folk whom are
very sick & plain fed up & out of control.
Need extra care so they don’t hurt any body.
Or them self.

I have never been to a psych unit but I have been in 5 or 6 hospital (stroke, severe) so it’s ok, the worst thing for me was the needles for blood tests and i.v. tubing because they had to attach a permanent i.v. to me. My arm was poked full of holes! They serve you meals and they do medical tests on you.
