Question by athenaze1: Signs of Alcoholism?
An employee of mine has breath that smells like alcohol. It is a sweet, fruity acetone like smell. His hands sometimes shake as well when he gets nervous… Is it possible for this to be another medical condition? Other employees are nervous, but I am not sure whether or not to confront this individual… There is no evidence that this person drinks at work…
I am concerned that I will run afoul of the law if I simply accuse or ask him about any alcohol use…

if he goes to hospital, and doctors find traces of blood in his alchohol, then you can get worried

a twich or nervous shake does not necesarily have to be from alchohol accusations of it will simply annoy him and regardless if he was drinking or not i assume he would deny it to keep his job perhaps the smell is from a mouthwash or perhaps he likes a cup of wine in the morning or a morning beer the way to tell if this is effecting his work is to see if his speech is blurred his cordination etc if those signs are present perhaps you can speak with him on the side you must have creditable accustations before going to him
