Question by Ivan N.: Alcohol detoxification?
How long does detox faze from alcohol addiction last? I quit a week ago and still have very severe discomfort. I also quit smoking cigarettes at the same time, so that adds up to the entire craving madness. I’m getting 12 hours sleep per day because it’s easier to bare. Any advice in general?

my best advice is to NOT try giving up cigarettes at the same time. Sure they are bad for your health, but trying to give them up together is making your cravings worse, and lessening your chances of successfully quitting either.

other advice? go to AA. many of them have been through it. they advise people who are quitting to have more sweets for a while. They probably have other things that can help you – either understanding or knowledge.

Never try to detox yourself because to is dangerous. People who drink alot should go to the hospital for detox. Believe me, I know. They will have you feeling better in one or two days. Ask for charity if you have to. Alcohol withdrawal can cause seizures and delirium tremmons.
