What Psychological Service Does?
by dave_mcmt
Question by oshane c: what psychological service does?
Best answer:
Answer by pandora the cat
Psychological service is counseling from an objective third party to help the client discover the source of their issues and discover better coping skills to manage them. They do not have an MD or perscribe medications. They are confidantes, and maintain complete confidentiality, and they do not judge their clients.
We all have different ways we cope with stress and anxiety. In our minds, we have our reasons and our behavior is justified. Sometimes is can become self-destructive or hinder our ability to function. That’s only because we don’t realize it or know a better way.
A Psychologist will help us by educating us and showing us options we have.

Child With Anxiety?
by Mammaoca2008
Question by katie: child with anxiety?
My 9 year old step-daughter has some anxiety problems. She gets extremely uncomfortable in new situations around new people, even when we are with her. She will start cying uncontrollably where she can’t breathe. I fee like we can’t take her anywhere in public because I don’t want to upset her or make her uncomfortable. Her mother and father do not have a good relationship at all (which is more than likely part of her anxiety). Her mother had her see a therapist one time that I know of, but I don’t know if she is attending regularly or anything. Do you have any suggestions for me as to what I can do to help her? Thank you.

That really does sound like a serious anxiety disorder. I would try to take her into therapy again, just to let her talk it out.

If you are priscribed a new anxiety/ depression medication dose the familly doctor legally have to send you to a psychologist?
Best answer:
Answer by nina
I am not a doctor but I know a family doctor can perscribe depression meds and treat you, If they feel it is too much for them to handle they will refer you to a psychologist but they are not legally obligated to.
Answer by fozzy40
No, but family docs will frequently do this if they feel it is necessary. Remember, the medication is only part of the solution. The medication only really treats the physiological reaction your body is having to your mood. Psychological treatment usually addresses the behavioral and cognitive aspects of your anxiety/depression. The two work great together!

Yeah it’s called the woods…
Answer by Steve
Its has bad as being on the computer 6 hours a day which some people stay on for 10 hours a day. Also there are most teenage boys that play videogames all day and sneak to play videogames at night aswell. No i dont think there isint because this usally happens to kids not adults. Parents just tell there kids to stop, ground them, make them play outside like a sport. Anything to get you off sitting down all day. Its also bad for your health and not because of the old thing people said about television giving off radiation. New tv’s dont have that anymore. Its bad for your health because your not getting any excercise at all and you block out everything else on your mind like doing chores, homework, ect.
Time That Is Used as a Guide for Outpatient Services Is What Kind of Time?
Question by Amber W: Time that is used as a guide for outpatient services is what kind of time?
Best answer:
Answer by Dav
Depends on the outpatient services and what you mean by time. Psychiatrists are allocated 15 minutes to monitor medications, write new prescriptions and write their notes, therapists are allotted 50 minutes to do mental health therapy and 10 minutes for notes and personal needs like bathroom break. Most insurance companies allow between 8 and 22 therapy visits for mental health for treatment of even the most severe and chronic of conditions. PA state law allows only a couple of days of inpatient care for suicidal clients.
