Question by lem7194: Alcoholism and drug addicts.?
I was wondering if anybody could tell me of jobs I could when I am older in which I am helping drug and alcoholics recover and also their families. I am passionate about this subject. Thanks for your help.
I do have personal experience. my father was an alcoholic.

There are many different job descriptions associated with Drug and Alcohol workers. Everything from nursing to counselling, it will depend on how much life experience you gain by the time your ready to enter that industry.

My dad just told me that he was watching some biopsy cause he’s a cop and the doctor pointed at the mans arteries and said that they were worn down and weak because the man took medication, my dad then said that marijuana actually has the same effect, I felt like it was just a thing to make me not smoke marijuana but it sounds real don’t be a guy that just gets mad at society and stuff like that give me a medical answer that would be awesome

Question by It’s a Secret: Adolescent Mental Hospital questions?
I have some questions about mental hospitals.
I was wondering what would happen if a person refused to eat, like what would they do? Can they force them to eat or something?
Another thing was what if a person was like doing something like banging their head against a wall or digging their nails into their skin till they bled? What would happen? What would staff do?

As for not eating, I’m not sure what they can do exactly. They may try to force them to eat as much as they can but I’ve never experienced anyone doing that while I was in treatment.

If a person was banging their head against the wall or causing harm to themselves in anyway, they’d be restrained. Afterwards they’d probably be under heavy surveillance. In my treatment a girl would constantly bang her head and she had to get sent to a different, more intense treatment facility.

Well I wouldn’t know but I would imagine the advantages are that A. You have absolute authority in the situation and you are not dealing with the attitudes and egos of adults. B. The problems of children are more simplistic and children are more resilient if you help them then and there then are adults. The disadvantages A. perhaps you would like a greater challenge, more complex issues, a fully developed person
