What Treatment Center?

Question by jadehope: What treatment center?
hi I’m a 19 year old female who has been secretly suffering from anorexia and bulimia for about 4 years. I have decided it’s time to tell my parents and receive treatment but I don’t know which treatment center is right for me. I know a lot of treatment centers also deal with other mental illnesses like bipolar disorder among others and also addiction to drugs and alcohol. however I do not abuse or even use drugs or alcohol and the only mental illness I have is anorexia and bulimia. I want to make sure im picking the right treatment center for me. does anyone have any suggestions? by the way I live in new York so anything in that area would be more convient, but I’m not opposed to going out of state. and I’m also looking for an inpatient program.

Question About Working in a Drug/alcohol Rehab Center?

Question by berry: Question about working in a drug/alcohol rehab center?
About a year ago, my brother died from a heroin overdose. It has destroyed my family and ever since then I’ve wanted to work in a drug/alcohol rehab center so that I can help other people save their lives before it is taken by drugs like my brother’s was. I’m now a freshman in college and I figured my best bet was to major in psychology. I have a few questions regarding working in a rehab center.

What exactly would my title be? I’m assuming I would be considered a drug councellor? I want to work directly with the patients and help them recover.
That being said, is psychology the right field?
And finally, what’s it like working in a rehab center? I imagin it will beb very depressing and sressful but I’m so determined to help others recover from addiction. I wish every day that my brother was strong enough to recover.
Thanks for all the answers

Psychology?

Question by Kyla L: psychology?
does it cost money to see a psychologist, and if so, appx how much?

Best answer:

Answer by browneyedgirl623
Many psychologist participate in insurance plans. If you are uninsured, the average rate in Ohio is around $ 100/hour (an hour is 50 minutes in mental health)

Many have sliding fee scales if you are unable to afford full fee. You will have to ask and prove need, though.
Good luck!

Answer by concise_pear
depends on where you are.
Go to your local GP and express your interest in seeing a psychologist. He/she might also let you know of some free or cheaper services around to.
If you are in Australia, visit your local council’s website and search the community directory for free counselling services.
all the best.
