When a person increases dosage of a drug even though it was not advised by a doctor, and that person keeps on taking that drug, there is a chance of him developing a tolerance for the drug and this can lead him to become addicted. I’m glad that you’re there for your friend and her mom. Tell your friend that she can take her mom to a doctor. The doctor will know what to do then. Or, she can use the links below to find substance abuse treatment centers that her mom can go to.
Effects of Parental Substance Abuse?
Question by numbr1TXfan: Effects of parental substance abuse?
What are some effects that parental substance abuse have on children?
Best answer:
Answer by Amanda P
Children whose mothers abused substances while in the womb are at a much higher risk for developing ADHD, conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, psychiatric problems, mental retardation, and drug abuse problems of their own. If the mother drinks alcohol, the infant could be born with fetal alcohol syndrome.
As for the effects of seeing the parents do drugs and not being exposed to drugs directly, I don’t really know. I’m sure the modeling effects of that could increase the likelihood of the childen experiementing with drugs themselves.

I would suggest you do online research, regarding the adverse affects of overdosing and how it impacts adolescents and young adults. Also, research the drug by name (Tizanidine). By doing so, you can find documented facts, and how abusing the recommended dosage affects an individual physically and psychologically.

Information on Lamictal Abuse?
Question by Kaylee: Information on lamictal abuse?
I’m doing a paper on prescribed medication and I chose Lamictal from a list my teacher has assigned. I can’t seem to find anything on the abuse of this drug, if any abuse has been done.
Any information would be helpful, thanks.

Prescription drugs are often abused.
Lamictal ( for bipolar disorder) can be abused. If one works why not take 3? If one isn’t working , why not take 5?
The side effects are exacerbated by the abuse.
