I Think I Am Hallucinating?
Question by : I think i am hallucinating?
I get tunnel vision, and during this time everyone i look at, their eyes, the iris, is white and glowing, like a neon light, my ears block and just hear distorted noises and the ground is no longer stable. Only after i fall or i yell or someone shakes me or there is a loud bang it all goes away. It’s last for about 1 minute – 5minutes at a time, these have been the worst times of my life. This has become quite frequent and scary now, what do you think is wrong with me? what am i afraid of?
I have not/am not taking drugs.

This is simly YOUR reality. But in my theory, reality is different for each person, no one sees the same thing, exactly. Your mind makes reality.
Can Psychiatrists Do Counseling? Can They Also Do S Exual Addiction Counseling?
Question by : Can Psychiatrists Do Counseling? Can they also do s exual addiction counseling?
Hi I am a medical student.
I am interested in psychiatry (I’m 33 and to old to go back a get a bachelor’s degree in psychology).
I am interested in counseling patients and not just prescribing medication all the time.
Can psychiatrists do counseling?
I’ve heard they can but that many just prescribe medication so that they can see more patients.
Does anyone know of psychiatrists who do counseling?
I suffered from sexual addiction in my past and was interested in counseling other men.
Can psychiatrists counseling men with sexual addiction?
I read somewhere that they could if they have training under the American Association of Sex Addiction Therapy.
Does anyone have any more information that could shed light on this?
Thank you

Do You Think the Addiction to Cigarettes Should Be Addressed When the Person Is in Alcohol/drug Treatment?
Question by Crystal M: do you think the addiction to cigarettes should be addressed when the person is in alcohol/drug treatment?

Answer by fdm215
It should definitely be addressed in some way…but trying to kick two addictions simultaneously might be too much for some.
Answer by cathylwgp
Most alcohol and drug treatment centers do not allow smoking within the center itself any longer. It is an awful lot for an addict to have to do everything all at once. Not being allowed to smoke inside at least cuts the smoking down some. But, no I do not think the addiction to cigarettes is something that should be enforced at this particular time. It is too much to give up everything at once. If the addict wants to quit it is the perfect time for them as they are learning to control addictive behaviors, and can apply what they are learning to the cigarettes.

I went to a Christian Counseling Center for many years. It was nice because if I wanted to talk about my faith in God or religion or anything like that, they understood and can relate. But it’s not like they were pushing religion on me or anything. There were just like a regular therapist or psychiatrist who happens to be Christian or Catholic etc. I think it was a good experience and I found them to be more “grounded” and more down to earth then a regular shrink (who can sometimes be a little weird if you ask me). Good luck.
