Is Student Support Services in a School System a Fancy Word for “School Psychologist”?
Question by Happy Thanksgiving!: Is Student Support Services in a school system a fancy word for “School Psychologist”?
If children hear psychologist wouldn’t that scare them like something is wrong with them. I was curious how school systems are now rewording job titles to make it less scary for children to associate things with.

It depends upon the school. Student Support Services could include many more services than just the psychological. For instance, there could be vocational assistance. There could be help when students get into fights or need study skills. It could refer to assistance with college applications. Of course, it could also include a school psychologist. I think it would be different from state to state as well as from country to country. Perhaps you should contact your local school system to determine how they are using the term.
Should I Tell My Mom, if So How?
Question by A: Should I tell my mom, if so how?
My brother and his girlfriend are staying in our basement until they save up enough money to get their own apartment. They just got jobs, so it’ll be a good month or so until they can make a payment anywhere.
My brother was raised by a physically and verbally abused father. My brother has manic depression as well, which isn’t controlled with medicine. But he’s over 18, so we can’t force him to get help at this point.
He seems to be taking after his father, because I just heard his girlfriend say “Quit calling me names” after my brother called her a b-tch and a fata-ss. He also makes fun of her slight muffin top and asks if she “thinks those jeans will fit.”

What Is Expressive Therapy All About?

Question by marianna D: what is Expressive Therapy all about?
Best answer:
Answer by DrummerBoy
This is a new label on an old practice that has been around for years. It used to be called “Psycho-drama.” But what it is: the patient and therapist–and sometimes even a couple other patients or therapists–“act out” a situation which pertains to the emotional problem that is afflicting the patient. For example, in a situation where a female patient might be depressed over her husband’s drinking, the therapist might play the role of the husband coming home drunk, and then the patient would get to “exprss” her feeling to him and say what she has been wanting to. After the “skit” they will go over the responses and the therapist might help revise her answers so as to make them more effective when she confronts her husband.
