It is usually through the courts and it is nothing more than someone asking you how much you drink/drug…Things of that nature. Most times they will then enroll you in a class of some sort.

I had one of these a couple months ago. They will ask you a bunch of questions on your family, employment ever been in trouble. They are trying to see what level of classes you will need. I had to take a ten hour class and a victim impact class. But people that have been in trouble with drugs or substance abuse will get more classes and that means lots more money. In my state anyway, so the assessor can help you or hurt you but that is about it.

Question by Worried Guy: What is day-to-day life like in live-in adolescent drug and alcohol rehab facilities, especically re: school?
Thinking about sending my sister, but I don’t want her to lose all semblance of normalcy, so I’d really like to know about school and social interactions with other kids at these places.

I have not been in a facility that treated adolescent substance abuse problems exclusively. I have been in dual diagnosis facilities. They are facilities that treat substance abuse problems along with other psychiatric issues. I was placed in a facility like that because of a family history with substance abuse.

Question by dbelsila: My son is in desparate need of an inpatient rehabilitation facility for cocaine abuse in Illinois?
My [foster] son in an abuser of crack cocaine. He has been “clean” for 30 days, but having trouble and really wants to use. I need to find a facility for him to go to to start rehab. Everything around me is like a 3 month waiting list! Anyone know how I can find help immediately? Some referral or some facility in Central Illinois. I’m willing to travel. I have looked on line and called tons of places. They have a waiting list or do not take Illinois medical card. Please please please help. We are desparate. I will even go to Wisconsin, Indiana, or Missouri if they will accept the IL medical card or if they are a non-profit organization who can help him. He is 18 and we really need immediate help. Please please please.
