Get a little controversial. Write on the limitations of the traditional twelve step programs in overcoming substance abuse. Get into the value of alternative programs that don’t depend on the higher power mythology, such as SOS (Secular Organizations for Sobriety), Lifering, Smart Recovery, Women for Sobriety. That way you’ll get away from the typical ho hum 12 step solution term paper on substance abuse. I suggest you start with reading Unhooked by Jim Christopher.
