Question by little flower: Counseling for an 8-year-old – early intervention or parental paranoia?
My son’s father and grandmother have both battled depression (including suicidal thoughts) and bipolar disorder. My son is moody but not unmanageable. Should we proactively seek counseling as a means of prevention or early diagnosis, or am I overly fearful and potentially meddlesome? Happy to answer any questions for more clarification.

counseling is ok but be careful not to let them tag him with a diagnosis it will stay with his permanant medical record and he may just be moody and having a rough patch.
