Do Jehovah’s Witnesses Take Care of Their “Elderly Servants”?

Question by Galatians; 5-1: Do Jehovah’s Witnesses take care of their “Elderly Servants”?
I knew a 90 year old Jehovah’s Witness Gentleman. When his wife became very ill, a few of the members of the church assisted him with her.
This was a long term illness, so the elders suggested he sell his home, and move closer to the Kingdom Hall where assistance would be readily available….
He sold his lovely home to another “elder” and the help he was promised, never materialized…he did not complain, but he told me he was indeed “hurt”.
As time went along, the assistance grew less, and of shorter duration. His lawn was not cut by the younger ones with healthy bodies and time to do so, so, he mowed it himself, I watched him struggle with the 2 hour job once, and he lived NEXT DOOR to their Kingdom Hall….

In other cases, I have not witnessed a “group effort” to assist any of the elder members of the church with their basic, or financial needs. Is there a reason for this?

The scriptures tell us to give “double Honor” to those with grey hair among us, in the Way.

Would this not include their physical needs as well as their spiritual needs?

I can provide documentation of this if needed.
Get behind me…your people have no heart to assist the older, weaker members. You are all waiting for the “new system”, but you ignore the simple needs that Jesus directed you to tend to.

You are the liar sir, you are the liar.
To top this true example of this man’s life, he was their “presiding Overseer” for 25 years…this example is true.

This is a real man in your Crossville Tennessee Kingdom Hall. He is alive there today.

Go and assist him.
Yes RJ, you are right, I have witnessed the mistreatment of our elderly on a larger scale, inclusive of other religious groups, But, Jehovah’s Witnesses claim to be THE representative of God on the earth, so their actions should speak louder than ANY of the other churches.
Thank you for your kind reply.
Kinwin….I mowed his lawn several times. My wife and I did all we could to assist him, many times. I am totally disabled, and have a difficult time walking. I asked for assistance with my physical needs several times from the elders and made attempts to have the younger friends help with my needs, with no success. I have had friends do things for me over the years, but as of late the need for service was always greater than love of neighbor. There are fine witnesses, but there is a lagging in the love area that is way behind the ones you call christendom. I am financially poor, but I have always tried to assist others. There is a “get it done yourself” attitude nowadys..that is not from Jesus.
My 40 years with you folks taught me that your attention to the needs of others was most times a show of strength to demonstrate how JW’s have love for others. I was treated so poorly by you people, that kept blaming myself for your lack of love. When I discovered all of the false prophesies, and twisted around doctrines, michael the archangel, blood, all theses teachings, compounded by the lack of love, I left. I will attest to the things i say because they are true. You all know my true name, why don;t you have the society sue me. Do what you want. You have taken nearly all from me anyway. I do have holy spirit and true knowledge of who Jesus is. I hope all of you recognize the importance of showing love, and how you show love here to me. May Jesus forgive all of you.

Liar, Liar, house on fire. Your an idiot if you think anyone would believe such trash.

SO, Where exactly is, this documentation you speak of?
and Why didn’t you, assist this Gentleman?

Answer by RJ
Documentation is not needed. If you truly saw what happened to that couple, that is sad thing to have happened. Some, and I mean some, do not show the love that Jesus told all of us to show to one another, it’s very apparent toward the elderly in this country than in others. But I have to say for the most part, I have seen JW’s show genuine love and care for the elderly members of their organization. I’m sorry if you’ve been eyewitness to the opposite of this, but many can attest to the love that they have their members. I’ve seen them visit their elderly in nursing homes because they’ve told me they’re aware of little care, abuse and mistreatment one will receive if not visited often. And if you are going to point out the fault of that organization, won’t you agree that other religions have done the same, if not worse.
