Donald Meichenbaum’s Stress Inoculation Training and Cognitive Behavioral Modification?

Question by Joseph: Donald Meichenbaum’s Stress Inoculation Training and Cognitive Behavioral Modification?
I am writing a paper on Cognitive behavioral Therapy and chose to base it off Meichenbaum’s model, which I create my own client and write out how I would go through the therapy. As I am doing research on the topic, I notice that in almost all the books I am looking into, they both mention SIT and CBM. However, they do not link the two together. This is a pretty big paper so I do not want to just leave out SIT if it can be used in conjunction with CBM and how.
I have concluded myself that these are two different strategies to reach two different goals, but I just wanted to get a second opinion.

If I’m not mistaken, SIT is part of CBM (or CBI). I hope this helps a little.
Here’s an abstract to show what I mean:
Examined the effectiveness of a short-term cognitive behavioral intervention in modifying Type A behavior patterns in a 55 yr old male with acute inferior wall infarction. The 33-session 6-wk intervention included coronary counseling, education, stress inoculation training, and behavioral counseling for significant others. Results show the intervention was effective in modifying Type A behavior and the associated problems of anger, anxiety, GSR, and dysfunctional cognitions.
