Emotional Treatment Centers?
Question by Vita: Emotional Treatment Centers?
I have been through a lot in the past few years. i was on anti depressants for about 2 years but have recently stopped taking them because i hated the feeling of fake happiness. i just recovered from a bulimic issue and feel myself slipping back into it. i have major self esteem issues and body image insecurities. i feel myself breaking down emotionally but im afraid to tell my mother and father since their lives are stressful enough. i think it would be really good for me to go away for a while and relax and get help at a teen emotional treatment center. i tried looking some up but i had no luck. i was hoping someone might know of a good place for me to research and consider going to. i would prefer something on the east coast but whatever, thank you so much!
i didnt stop taking my meds without talking to anybody. my doctor had recommended it a while ago but i wasnt ready. i finally decided i was ready and me and my mom talked about and i have been slowly stopping to take it for a few weeks. also i have been slipping back into old habits for a while now, old memories being rehashed not because i stopped my medication.

First off, it was a really bad idea to stop taking you meds without talking to the doctor who prescribes them to you. My mom ending up having a severe mental breakdown because she decided to sop taking your meds. That may be why you are slipping back into old habits. Also, anti depressants aren’t fake happiness. They allow your body to actually be happy. With depression your body doesn’t make enough of the right chemicals for you to really be happy. Anti depressants help your brain do what it is naturally supposed to do. As for treatment centers, there aren’t a ton around. What I would recommend is seeing if your local hospitals have an inpatient or outpatient center for mental health issues. Many hospitals have this sort of facility and some have ones focused towards teens. If there is a children’s hospital in your area that is the hospital I would reccomend. In Seattle, children’s has a very good mental health facility for teens and I’m sure there are ones on the east coast.
