Has Anyone Ever Painted Floor And/or Wall Tile?
Question by a mom: Has anyone ever painted floor and/or wall tile?
I am wondering if it would work. We read on a product that is a primer that you can, but I wanted feedback on someone who has done it. Thanks.

After installing thousands of sq. ft. of tile, and applying thousands of gallons of paint, and with no offense to any answers, nor to any products HYPED, I have to tell you, if you try it, you’ll be way less than happy.
Tile is essentially “glass” and not at all designed to accept paint, after glazing and firing. Consider too that especially on a floor, any substance endures the most amount of “abuse” possible.
While it might be you’re unhappy with the tile, and not happy with the prospect of removing it, I promise you’ll be more discouraged in attempting any miracle product application, and the degrading results in a brief time span.

I had to paint over EXTERIOR wall-tile (glazed) for a project… I gave it an acid wash to strip off all dirt, grease, etc… then I used high-grit sandpaper to give the tile some “tooth”.
I then just painted it with a good exterior primer and then an exterior latex paint.
The respondent above is absolutely right… if you CAN remove the tile I would. This project was on a retail space whose lease prohibited that kind of solution.
I’ve also used epoxy-sealant / paint systems on several garage floors with terrific results.
Good luck
