Should I Tell My Mom, if So How?
Question by A: Should I tell my mom, if so how?
My brother and his girlfriend are staying in our basement until they save up enough money to get their own apartment. They just got jobs, so it’ll be a good month or so until they can make a payment anywhere.
My brother was raised by a physically and verbally abused father. My brother has manic depression as well, which isn’t controlled with medicine. But he’s over 18, so we can’t force him to get help at this point.
He seems to be taking after his father, because I just heard his girlfriend say “Quit calling me names” after my brother called her a b-tch and a fata-ss. He also makes fun of her slight muffin top and asks if she “thinks those jeans will fit.”
Later, they got into what seemed like an originally “playful” hand-slap-fight, but then I heard her say “Ow, stop!” and it ended.
They just went out grocery shopping and won’t be back til tonight. Should I tell my mom when she gets home? Or should I wait? Or is it even my business? All I know is it’s worrisome and stressing me out…
I’m his little sister, by the way. He’s 23 and I’m 16.
Um? I have a boyfriend. He doesn’t hit me or call me names, though. I’m only concerned for her well-being.
What? They’re both adults…
I told my mom and she said there’s nothing we can do. Guess I can’t do much but call the cops if we get domestic violence on our hands…
