Do they suffer from anything like a drug addict might have upon that next hit? Convulsions, health issues, etc.
What might happen to them immediately after taking that drink?

Nothing. I quit for 15 yrs. Went to Thailand and decided to drink internationally. I have drank for 10 years again. And no big thing.

they have crossed a threshold, it is a chance that the alcoholic takes
may never return to sobriety.
