This is a serous question and deserves a thoughtful answer. I have been through that with a loved one. They must go to rehab and I don’t mean just detox, they need a 30 day or more place to go. After that they should go to a half way house then a 1/4th way house. They need to go to NA meetings every day at first then after a while they should be able to drop to once a week. The NA meeting will last for their entire life as they will always be addicted to crack but will know/learn how to not use it. They must, I repeat MUST drop all drug buddies and have absolutely no contact with them, even no phone contact. Crack is very hard to get off of as it affects you psychologically also. It is either the hardest or one of the hardest drugs to get off of. If the person is not ready to get off the drug all the help in the world will not work. He has to hit rock bottom first. Do not help him in any way, do not lend him money, a place to sleep, food or anything so that he will have a chance to hit his rock bottom, as long as he has these things he will not stop. Many crack users do not have a permanent place to live, as they do not have the money to pay their rent. They steal money or other things to get money to pay for their habit, as most of them cannot keep an honest job. Many of them turn into drug runners for the suppliers as a way to get their next hit. They resort to trying to “beat” the seller on the street by folding the money and driving off after getting the drug. Many get beat up badly for this or shot. It is a most terrible drug to be on and I am most sorry for you that someone you love is on it. If they do not get off it soon and do not love you enough to get off to keep you then it would be best if you leave him, he will only bring you down and endanger your well-being. It is a very dangerous life for them and those around them. Good luck to him/her in getting off.?
