Where could I sign up to provide online counseling to those who need it? I would like a site where I could sign up and either through chat or Email help to counsel people. Are there any such sites?

Make your own site, then if it grows, you can make money from it by either charging for counseling or putting ads to the sides of the chat.

True “counseling”, even online, requires that you go through at least 30 hours of training and a supervised period to ensure you are providing appropriate services. Even online counseling programs require that you come onsite for screening and training.

You need to investigate what nonprofits in your area engage in any kind of counseling: suicide prevention, help for people who have been abused, help for teens in crisis, etc. Then you contact each and see if they have an online component regarding their services. These organizations do not accept everyone who applies.

Here is a list of organizations that engage exclusively in online volunteering, but note that there’s no online counseling on this list.
