Would You Rate a Person Who Has a GED Lower Than You Would if That Same Person Had a High School Diploma?

Question by 313Reppa: Would you rate a person who has a GED lower than you would if that same person had a High School Diploma?
In other words, I’m asking, does a GED stand equivalent to a High School Diploma. This is a question for employers, or people who know how the hiring process works. Yet and still anyone who feels they have a good answer is free to do so.

A GED is in no way inferior to a high school diploma. I dropped out of high school, took my GED, used those scores to get into university, finished valedictorian and completed a masters and a phd. It doesn’t mean that a person lacks ability – intellectual or otherwise. Sometimes it means there were other factors at play in their lives that they couldn’t control.

I’ve worked in recruiting & in all cases that I am aware of, a GED is considered the equivalent to a HS Diploma. If 2 candidates are exactly the same in all other aspects, the one with the HS Diploma would have no leverage over the candidate with the GED.
